Summer Check-In: Feeling the Joy... or the Burnout?

USELETTER | BRINGING YOU THE LATEST FROM FRUGAL COUPON LIVING. DEALS. FASHION. PRINTABLES. MORE.

Hello Reader,

How’s summer going so far?

Some families are just kicking off the break, while others are already deep into long days, snack crumbs, sunscreen battles, and the endless question:
“What are we doing today?”

Wherever you are in your summer rhythm — excited, exhausted, or somewhere in between — this is your gentle reminder that it’s okay to pause, reset, and make room for what matters most.

A Simple Summer Check-In:

You don’t need to plan a big trip or master a Pinterest-worthy schedule to make this season count.
Sometimes it’s the small moments that become the big memories.

Here are a few quick ideas if you're needing a little mid-season lift:

☀️ Do something ordinary… but outside.
Lunch on a blanket, puzzles on the porch, or popsicles in the driveway. A change of scenery can work wonders.

🎧 Swap screens for stories.
Pull out your favorite family playlist or play a short audiobook together during quiet time.

🎲 Bring back classic games.
Think sidewalk chalk, hide and seek, charades, or a good old-fashioned card game. Take a look at some ideas.

🗣️ Ask one fun question at dinner.
"What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened this week?" or "If summer had a mascot, what would it be?"
If you want more questions to keep the conversation flowing, I’ve got a set of Family Conversation Starters you can use anytime.

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about remembering that small is still special. Take a peak at our Visual Summer Bucket List for ideas you can do at home.
You’re doing a great job — even if today looked like cereal for dinner and chaos before bed.

Cheering you on through every popsicle, pile of laundry, and beautiful mess.

XO,
Ashley

Reader - The 4th of July is almost here — a time for cookouts, sparklers, water balloons, and, most of all, remembering the incredible gift of freedom. For some, it’s a day of fireworks and celebration. For others, it’s a quieter time with family, reflection, and gratitude. However you celebrate, I hope this season reminds you of the simple joy of being together and the deeper gift of what it means to live free — and love well. Celebrate the 4th of July with Meaning + Memory Here are a few...

Hi Reader - Can I tell you something that might surprise you? Despite all the emails I send, all the creations I share, and all the planning tools you see on the blog… I’m not a natural planner. At all. I don’t run our summer on a color-coded schedule. What I do have — and what’s helped our family the most — is a rhythm. It’s flexible. It shifts day to day. But it gives our home a gentle flow, and it keeps us from feeling like we’re just reacting to chaos all summer long. What’s a rhythm,...

Father's day can be a sensitive subject for some. If this is you, click here and we will take you off future Father's Day Mailings. Hello Reader! Father’s Day is just around the corner! It’s a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible dads, grandpas, and father figures who bless our lives. Of course, a simple “thank you” or a kind hug goes a long way. But if you’re looking to go the extra mile this year with something meaningful and budget-friendly, I’ve gathered some...
