Meaningful Lent Traditions For Your Family ✝️❤️

Hi there, Friend!

Lent is a special season leading up to Easter, lasting 40 days (not counting Sundays). It’s a time of reflection, prayer, and drawing closer to God. Many people give something up for Lent, but it’s also a wonderful opportunity to add meaningful traditions that bring your family together and help kids understand the true story of Easter.

If you're looking for family-friendly Lent traditions, here are some great ways to make the season meaningful:

1. Share a Daily Bible Verse

Reading one verse a day that tells the Easter story is a simple way to keep Jesus at the center of Lent. You can write verses on notecards, put them in a jar, or display them on the fridge.

Need help? → Check out my 40 Lent Bible Verses that Tell the Easter Story printable.

2. Do Acts of Kindness as a Family

Instead of giving something up, add acts of kindness! Each day, challenge your kids to do something thoughtful—write a note to a friend, donate food, or pray for someone.

3. Teach the Easter Story with Resurrection Eggs

Resurrection Eggs are a hands-on way for kids to learn the Easter story step by step. Each egg holds a small object that represents a part of Jesus’ journey to the cross and resurrection.

Make your own! → Take a look at the Resurrection Eggs printable which includes symbols and scripture references to help you create your own set.

4. Have a Bible Scavenger Hunt

Kids love a challenge! A Lent Bible Scavenger Hunt makes scripture reading fun by guiding kids to look up Bible passages that lead them through the story of Jesus.

Ready to explore? → See the Lent Bible Scavenger Hunt with 40 questions for the full 40 days of Lent.

5. Create an Easter Story Card Set

Help kids retell the story of Jesus with illustrated story cards. They can mix, match, and order the cards to reinforce what they’re learning.

Want an easy version? → The Easter Story Cards printable makes it simple to review the Gospel message in a way kids will remember.

Lent is a powerful season for families to slow down and focus on faith, kindness, and the story of Jesus. Whether you use some of these ideas or find your own traditions, I hope this season is a special time for your family.

If you're looking for ready-made resources, you can find all of the above printables in my shop. But even if you don’t grab anything, I hope these ideas bless your family this Lent!
